Every culture has a design language. However, the design language for some countries is more identifiable than others. The region of Scandinavia, including the countries of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, has retained a “pure” design language because their culture has managed to remain relatively homogeneous throughout the course of their history; it has not been influenced by other cultures. For this reason, their design is identifiable. This book explores the elements that define Scandinavian Design and how it has become an overarching language for multiple Nordic countries in a broad geographical area.
